aims of leading partner:

The overall aim of the programme is to establish principles based on this methodology when setting up working partnerships between craftspeople and classroom teachers. In order to create this partnership both craftspeople and teachers attend training workshops on planning and facilitating arts educational projects. Strong emphasis is placed on the importance of close collaboration between the teacher and the craftsperson both in the planning stages and the facilitation of the programme, this has proved highly beneficial to the quality of the project.

development and delivery:

The training for Craft in the Classroom provides:

Between the training workshops, craftspeople visit their designated schools and facilitate a two-hour introductory session, with the aim of introducing the students to the basic concepts of their craft and familiarising themselves with the school environment. These sessions are then evaluated and shared at the following training workshop and have proved invaluable when planning the main project.
