National Funding Opportunities

National agencies are funded through central government, the national lottery and Europe. Most agencies listed here are directly linked to funds allocated by the Department of the Arts, Sports and Tourism. However  due to the nature of many arts education programmes in relation to formal education and social engagement other agencies and government departments may provide funding.

Funding for arts and community groups/ projects is provided by a number of government departments.

Some government departments run grant schemes in line with their policies and remit to help deliver their objectives. For example, the Department for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs will provide funding that tackles rural issues or to help improve the Gaeltacht areas.  It also is responsible for the dormant account fund, and manages the distribution of large grants to assist the personal, educational and social developments of persons who are economically, educationally or socially disadvantaged.
