| brief description of organisation: | The Butler Gallery is a contemporary art gallery located in the former kitchens of Kilkenny Castle. Funded for the most part by the Arts Council of Ireland, it exhibits work by emerging and established Irish and international living artists. Alongside the exhibition programme, the Butler Gallery runs a rich and diverse education and outreach programme. It also exhibits and loans work from the Butler Gallery Collection, established in 1943 with the founding of the Kilkenny Art Gallery Society. |
